1. About this policy
1.1 This policy explains how the Beyond the Mountains website uses cookies and similar technologies, and how you can control them. It sits alongside my Privacy Policy.
1.2 Cookies are small files saved on your device when you visit a website. Similar technologies, such as your browser's local storage, work in much the same way. In this policy, "cookies" covers both.
2. Your choices
2.1 When you first visit the website, a banner asks whether you are happy for me to use analytics cookies. They are only switched on if you choose "Accept". If you choose "Essential only", they stay off.
2.2 You can change your mind at any time using the "Cookie settings" link in the footer of every page, or the button below.
2.3 You can also block or delete cookies in your browser settings. Blocking essential cookies may stop some parts of the website, such as forms and bookings, from working.
3. Essential cookies
3.1 These are needed for the website to work and to keep it secure, so they do not need your consent. They include:
- cookies set by GoHighLevel, the platform the website runs on, to deliver pages and keep forms working
- cookies set by Cloudflare to protect the website and its forms from spam and attacks
- your cookie choice, saved in your browser so you are not asked again on every page (kept for 12 months)
4. Preference storage
4.1 The website remembers a few choices you make, saved in your browser's local storage on your own device:
- the currency you choose for prices (UK, US or Canada)
- whether you have dismissed the location message
4.2 This information stays on your device, is not sent to me, and is only used to show the website the way you asked. You can clear it at any time in your browser settings.
5. Analytics cookies (only with your consent)
5.1 If you choose "Accept", the website uses Google Analytics to understand how many people visit, which pages they look at and how they found the website. This helps me improve the website.
5.2 Google Analytics sets these cookies:
- _ga, which tells visitors apart (kept for up to 2 years)
- _ga_ followed by an ID, which keeps track of your visit (kept for up to 2 years)
5.3 The information is collected in a way that does not directly identify you, and I do not use it for advertising. Google may process it outside the UK, protected as described in my Privacy Policy. You can read more in Google's privacy information.
6. Other websites and services
6.1 Some features open other services, such as WhatsApp, Zoom or Stripe, or link to client websites. When you use them, their own cookie and privacy policies apply.
7. Changes to this policy
7.1 I may update this policy if the website changes. The date at the top of this page shows when it was last changed.
